A miserable season for the Kozły offense continued on Sunday, as the visiting Gdynia Seahawks dealt Poznań their third shutout of the year, a 60-0 laugher that saw Gaweł Pilachowski find the end zone four times for the winners. It was, in fact, the second consecutive shutout victory for the defending champions, who ran their record to 5-0 for the season.
The Seahawks led 21-0 after a quarter and 41-0 at halftime, with highlights coming on a 31-yard touchdown run by Brandon Stanley and a fumble return for a touchdown by Mateusz Marciniak. Pilachowski scored in each of the first two quarters and then twice more in the fourth quarter to cap an impressive performance in relief of a resting Joshua Quezada. Terrance Owens threw for a pair of scores and ran for another in the win.
Kozły has now lost 11 straight games to the Seahawks, with their only win in the 15-game series coming back in 2009. Poznań is now 0-5 on the year and, with only a road game against the powerful Wrocław Panthers remaining, look headed to a last-place finish in the Topliga and a road date against the fourth seed in the wild card round of the playoffs in June.
