The Sharks also got their 2016 campaign off to a promising start at home on Sunday, thrashing Kozły Poznań 47-6. Giorgio Bryant ran for three touchdowns and threw another, while Mikołaj Pawlaczyk added another pair of rushing scores for Warsaw. It was a milestone win for the Sharks, who lost to Kozły 45-0 just two seasons ago.
Bryant and Pawlaczyk both scored in the first quarter to help the Sharks to an early 14-0 lead. They doubled that advantage in the second quarter when Bryant found Mateusz Bednarczuk in the end zone for a score and Mateusz Szczęk recovered a fumble deep in Kozły's end and returned it for a touchdown. Szczęk is returning to the Sharks after spending a season in France with one of Europe's top teams, the Thonon Black Panthers.
Emilio Dangote got Poznań's only points late in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run. Kozły then missed out on a golden opportunity to cut the lead further, failing on fourth-and-goal at the Warsaw 2-yard line just before the halftime whistle. Neither team scored in the third quarter, and Bryant's 45-yard touchdown run early in the fourth ended Kozły's hopes of a comeback.
