The Zagłębie Steelers Interpromex could not stop Angelo Pease on Saturday, yielding a half dozen touchdowns to the Gdynia Seahawks running back in a 49-12 win for the defending champions in Będzin. The Seahawks have won four straight to open the 2015 season, while the Steelers continue to search for their first victory.
Pease scored twice is each of the first, third and fourth quarters, while Micah Brown picked up the only other points for the Seahawks on a 10-yard touchdown run five seconds before halftime. Gdynia led 21-6 at the intermission, as the Steelers were able to stay somewhat in touch thanks to a Kevin Marshall touchdown reception.
Gdynia opened up a wide lead in the third quarter, however, as Pease scored on a pair of 10-yard touchdown runs. His first four scores all came on the ground, and he caught both of Brown's two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. Thomas Logan caught a touchdown pass for Zagłębie in the fourth to break a streak of 35 straight Seahawks points.
Long-time Zagłębie quarterback Michał Krzelowski was on the throwing end of that Logan touchdown, coming into the game in relief of injured starter Michał Kołek. The Steelers, who have now lost all six games all-time to the Seahawks, also saw Marshall leave the game with a minor injury in the second half.
Both teams will play their next games on April 25. On that day, the Steelers will make the long journey to Białystok to face an improved Lowlanders team, while the Seahawks will host the Wrocław Panthers in a matchup of the Topliga's last two undefeated teams. The Seahawks defeated the Panthers 41-32 in last season's SuperFinal IX.
