Week 4 of the PLFA II season provided plenty of intrigue, nowhere more so than in Toruń, where the Angels pulled out a last-second victory over the Seahawks. In other action, the Panthers B team held off the Wolverines, while the Outlaws and Crusaders each tallied wins. Here is a recap of each of the four games that was played over the weekend.

Toruń Angels 30, Sopot Seahawks 27 (in Toruń)

In one of the most exciting games in the seven-year history of PLFA II, each team came back from two-score deficits before the Angels got a touchdown with six seconds remaining to stun the Sopot Seahawks on Saturday in Toruń.

The Angels trailed 13-0 after a quarter, but they cut the gap to 13-7 before halftime on a Jakub Mazan touchdown reception. After a lightning delay, Mazan ran the second half kickoff back 90 yards for a touchdown to give Toruń their first lead, and the Angels went up by 9 points later in the third quarter on a short touchdown run by Bartosz Mróz.

Luke Zetazate got the Seahawks back to within a field goal with his second touchdown pass of the game, a 10-yarder to Paweł Henicz, and the Seahawks regained the lead in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Andrzej Wołoszkiewicz. That gave Sopot a 27-22 advantage, setting up Mróz's late heroics.

The Seahawks, who played well despite being able to list as many as 28 players on their current injury report, will have almost a month and a half to get healthy for their next game, which happens to be the return leg of the season series against the Angels on July 12. Toruń will next take on the Słupsk Griffons in another home game on June 21.

Wrocław Panthers B 28, Opole Wolverines 20 (in Opole)

Adam Jagiełło scored four touchdowns for the Panthers, who won their season opener 28-20 on the road on Saturday against the Wolverines. The Panthers are already the only team of the five in Group B to enjoy an unbeaten record as the Wolverines and Dragons both lost on Saturday.

The Wolverines got an 85-yard touchdown reception from Adam Popanda in the second quarter, but Jagiełło answered with his second touchdown of the opening half to give Wrocław a 14-6 lead. Jagiełło scored again to open the third quarter, and his fourth touchdown of the afternoon put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter after Kamil Kowalik had gotten the Wolverines closer with a touchdown run.

Both teams will be back in action on the weekend of June 14-15. On Saturday, the Panthers will play their home opener against the 0-1 Rybnik Thunders, while the Wolverines will be on the road against the Zielona Góra Dragons on Sunday.

Wrocław Outlaws 18, Zielona Góra Dragons 0 (in Zielona Góra)

The Outlaws got their first PLFA win in style on Saturday in Zielona Góra, completely shutting down the home Dragons in an 18-0 victory. Wrocław scored all of their points before a thunderstorm interrupted play in the third quarter.

Mariusz Górecki scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Marcin Hasiec doubled the lead with a 25-yard touchdown run in the second. Górecki then hooked up with rookie Dominik Mioduszewski for the game's most spectacular play, a 56-yard touchdown pass, before the heavens opened up.

The Outlaws will have a long break before their next game, which comes on July 12 against none other than these same Dragons. That contest, of course, will take place in Wrocław. Zielona Góra will look to get back into the win column on June 15, when they host the Opole Wolverines.

Warszawa Crusaders 22, Warsaw Sharks B 8 (in Warsaw)

In Group C action, the Crusaders defeated the Sharks B team 22-8 on Saturday in the latest edition of the battle of Warsaw. The Crusaders used a big first quarter, a run-based offensive game plan and solid pass defense to overcome the Sharks and their aerial attack.

The Sharks opened the game with a three-and-out, which Mateusz Kowalczyk followed with a 60-yard punt return that set up the Crusaders at the 3-yard line. Adam Płochocki cashed in on second down, and Grzegorz Wójcik added a 45-yard touchdown run later in the quarter. Kamil Maksymowicz, who finished with 13 receptions on the afternoon, had a touchdown catch in the second quarter to cut the Crusaders lead to 16-8, but Wójcik scored again in the fourth quarter to put the game on ice.

Both teams will be on the road on June 19 for their next game. The 0-2 Sharks will be looking for their first win of the season against the Warsaw BEagles on that day, while the Crusaders will visit the Radom Green Ducks. The BEagles lost their opening game of the season, while the Green Ducks won theirs.
